Book launch
New insights, lively discussions and inspiring photography; we look back on a great episode of Research InSightS LIVE!
During the hybrid event (online and at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam) we launched the book ‘COVID-19 and international development’, published by Springer Publishing (January 2022). The book addresses the implications of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic for international development from a social sciences perspective.
Dr Elissaios Papyrakis (editor & one of the authors of the book) and his ISS colleagues Dr Matthias Rieger, Dr Georgina Gomez and Professor Syed Mansoob Murshed talked about the book. They engaged in a lively discussion with external guests and answered questions from the audience, under the guidance of moderator Lynn Zebeda.
Pascalle Grotenhuis, director of the Social Development Department at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassador for women's rights and gender equality received the first copy of the book. Social entrepreneur Uthara Narayaran (Chief Changemaker at Buzz Women) from India, Los Angeles based photographer Nilaya Sabnis and environmental expert Dr Dorice Agol from Kenya joined the discussion and talked about their work and experiences.
