On 21 December 2021, Elyse Mills will defend her thesis 'Transnational fishers' movements and the politics of global fisheries'
In her thesis, Elyse Mills explores the roles of social movements in the politics of global fisheries. She focuses on two transnational movements - the World Forum of Fisher Peoples and World Forum of Fish Harvesters and Fish Workers - exploring three connected analytical spheres:
- transnational movements contesting and seeking to influence the politics of global fisheries;
- international political spaces movements are prioritizing;
- contentious fisheries issues shaping movements’ struggles and political agendas.
In so doing, she asks Why and how do transnational fishers’ movements contest and seek to influence the politics of global fisheries?
